Earlier, Gimpo airport was the major airport in the city of Seoul but with the opening of Incheon International Airport in 2001 on the Yeongjong Island of Incheon, all the international flights started handling through the Incheon International Airport only and Gimpo now only serves domestic flights. With this in view, the Incheon International Airport, along with Singapore and Hong Kong, has become a major transportation hub for the East Asia. Being named as the fifth best airport in the world by Skytrax, a large number of airlines provide cheap flights to Seoul from different parts of the world.

If you do not want or are not able to land on the Incheon International Airport, then the second nearest airport to the city is the Wonju Airport in Wonju, South Korea. What to see in Seoul

Because the city served to be an ancient seat for the Korea’s royalty, there are 5 major palaces in the city that are worth seeing. These palaces are Gyeongbok-gung, Changdeok-gung, Deoksu-gung, Changgyeong-gung and Geyonghui-gung. As far as parks are concerned, there are Boramae park, Namsan Park, Olympic Park, Tapgol Park, Yangjae Citizen's Forest, Yeouido Park, Yongsan Park and Hangang Citizen's Park. If you are more interested in knowing the religion of the city, you can visit the several temples and shrines of the city including the Jongmyo Shrine, the Mount Inwang and the Jogyesa temple. Like the rest of the South Korea, Seoul also has a humid continental type of climate, despite the fact that the country has been surrounded by water on three sides. Summers are hot and humid and monsoons take place from June to July. August is the hottest month of the year and winters are very cold and much drier. Therefore, you can plan your trip accordingly and if you are looking for an indirect route to Seoul, then the best alternative for you can be from Los Angeles to Seoul.

Nightlife in Seoul

With beautiful places and great dining options, Seoul has a hopping nightlife giving a great experience of real Asia to the visitors. The areas of Hongdae and Sinchon are frequently visited by hip foreigners and college students because they feature hundreds of bars, night clubs and restaurants along with the Seoul World Cup Stadium.
