Denver is the capital of Colorado and of the county with the same name. It is also known as “The Mile-High City” because its elevation above sea level.
The city’s climate is similar to that in Boise. This means that it is a semi-arid climate, which is an intermediate between desert and humid climate. In Denver, the temperatures and winds are influenced by the Rocky Mountains. The winters are mild and during summer, the temperatures are between 15 °C and 31 °C. Is not usual that the snowiest month is March, but in this area, this is the case, having around 30 centimeters of snow.
In the 1890s, the city was the second largest city on the West-Midwest. Many of the surrounding smaller settlements were linked to Denver in the early 20th century. This is how the city has today 79 neighborhoods. This gives Denver a truly unique look, because each neighborhood has its own style. You can find in some many skyscrapers while in others 19th and 20th century houses.
Another feature that the large number of neighborhoods bought Denver is the fact that there are many parks all over the city. In 2006, you could choose form 200 parks; these were of different sizes but up to nearly 350 acres. During the years, the city bought more and more land to build several recreational buildings. Many of these today are very popular tourist attractions. One of them is the Red Rocks Amphitheater, located, a few kilometers from the Denver, in Morrison. This is an open-air amphitheater, which gave home to many prestigious concerts over the years. Acts that performed here in 2007 include Bjork, The Killers and Daft Punk, bands that will bring people flocking as quickly as great hotel offers or the hint of a free weekend in Vegas.
Situated at a bit longer distance from the city itself in Grand County is the Winter Park Resort. The one and a half hour journey is well worth for every winter sports fan. If you have the time, you can also consider taking the Ski Train. Yes, there is also a train having its route from Denver to the resort. This is a bit longer but you can enjoy the beautiful sights and count the tunnels you pass through. The ten kilometer long, Moffat Tunnel is only one of the 29 tunnels. If you choose this option you will also have the opportunity to see the Union Station in LoDo.
LoDo stands for Lower Downtown which is the oldest and the original settlement of Denver. If you are here you may visit the first brewpub of the city. This is the Wynkoop Brewing Company, which was co-founded by John Hickenlooper who is the Mayor since 2003. However, be prepared to spend a long night here because it has a large billiard hall and a comedy hall. Of course, this is not the only spot to spend your nights at. You can choose between blues and jazz clubs, British and Irish pubs, live music clubs or several nightclubs.

Other two sport teams play in professional football leagues; the Colorado Crush in the AFL, while the Denver Bulldogs in the US Australian Football League. The lacrosse is also popular in The Mile-High City, having two teams representing the city nationwide: the Colorado Mammoth (NLL) and the Denver Outlaws (MLL). The large number of teams gives an excellent opportunity for the 14 sports bars to widen their public. Every time the any of the teams play in other cities, the bars are full of supporters.
