Norway is one of my favorite countries in the world – if that is not too silly to say. It is wild and untamed, beautiful in its scenery and wonderful in its culture. Now if you did not yet add it to your list of this year’s ‘must-visit’ list, allow me to encourage you a little with my own version of must see attractions in Norway for 2013.
Also, let yourself be inspired by the video of the country’s Tourism Board showing amazing landscapes, thrilling adventures and cozy things to do!
Lofoten Islands
The archipelago of Lofoten Islands in Western Norway is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. It is so very intact and picturesque, it’s colored houses and nice people will instantly charm you.

The sharp peaks and the strong blue sky are unforgettable and can best be admired if you are on a bicycle – not exclusively, of course. Not so uncommonly in the country, Lofoten is also great for whale watching!
Geirangerfjord
You definitely take this room for the view! With one of the most astonishing natural landscapes I have ever seen, your Norway trip is not complete without a trip to Geirangerfjord.

It may not come as a surprise, but part of the place is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and you can probably best explore and experience it if you take the ferry ride of 20 km through the emerald waters.
Svalbard
Kind of the ‘last frontier’ of Europe, Svalbard gives home to more polar bears than people. No wonder, around 60% of it’s territory is glaciers. It is the perfect place to experience what life on the Arctic is and yet not as inaccessible as you may think.

It is equally beautiful in the summer as it is in the winter, the view is – for lack of a more expressive word – heartbreaking, in a good way! I can warmly (pun intended) recommend it any time of the year!
Pulpit Rock
Experiencing Pulpit Rock in Forsand, Ryfylke is astonishing, it is like standing on the top of the world and watching over it. The water beneath you is as blue as the cobalt sky above and if the weather is clean you can see incredibly far and if it is foggy you get chills from the mystery of the whole place – it’s fantastic!

I know all my must see attractions in Norway for 2013 are natural sights. This does not mean that Norway hasn’t got wonderful man made attractions, just that I am so much in love with it’s scenery – I hope you will understand why.
